TOWN OF WENTWORTH NEW HAMPSHIRE
OFFICE OF THE SELECTMEN

October 23, 2007 Selectmen's Meeting Minutes

Present: Palmer Koelb, John Millican, Randy Morrison and Janet Woolner

Also Present: Gini Gove, Ellie Murray, Chip Stata, Randy Comsteller, Chief Kevin Kay, Deb Wright and Nathan Wright

Randy moved to open the meeting at 6:10 pm. This was seconded by Palmer and approved.

Chief Kevin Kay updated Selectmen on the week’s events including an update on the employee taken to the hospital last week. Chief Kay inquired about the policies and procedures being reviewed from Selectmen.

Kenyon Karl voiced his concerns about the possible property development on M/L 05-01-04. He believes this would be a dredge and fill application and the culvert may need updating on Ephraim Page Rd. He said impact could be over or through a couple streams. He also has concerns about gravel trucks, etc.

Gini Gove talked to the Selectmen about a request for a warrant article in the amount of $1,200 for the Historical Society.

Nathan Wright asked the Selectmen to authorize cleanup on Buffalo Road.

Waste oil collection was discussed and John Millican will contact Wentworth Green Houses to inquire about problem solving the water in the oil tank.

Selectmen denied and signed an abatement application for M/L 05-08-27 which was withdrawn by the property owner, authorized an Event Application by the Wentworth Congregational Church for the Variety Show to be held on 11-10-07. They signed a Timber Tax Warrant for Dow, M/L 05-05-02 and Laprade M/L 02-02-11; a driveway permit for Coursey M/L 10-04-08 and Kingsbury M/L 05-07-17, and signed a Review Record for a town employee, and Supplemental Intent to Cut for Stankatis for State land on Thayer Mtn Rd.

Palmer reported the results of the Wentworth School District decision and they stated in the meeting that they would not comply with the Town’s request for a special Town Meeting even though the School District was presented a legal petition requesting the meeting. The School Board said that the Town could pursue it by whatever means they deem because there is no case law. It was also learned at this meeting that the phone equipment, intercom, new doors, new windows, and locks, (that was tabled at the annual School Board Meeting) were in fact purchased and installed anyway!

Randy moved to approve the Minutes and Non-public Minutes for October 9, 2007. This was seconded by John and approved.

Selectmen discussed the letter from the Labor Board and will draft a response detailing how and when the Town will make improvements and required by the State of New Hampshire.

John moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 pm. This was seconded by Randy and approved.

Respectfully submitted,

Janet E. Woolner
