Effective April 26, 2017 all Select Board business & working meetings will be held on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm until further notice.
The Select Board is sorry for any inconvenience that may have been caused due to the last-minute meeting cancellations. As we all know this is a busy time of year for all.
Next business/working meeting will be on Wednesday, May 3 at 6:00 pm. We hope to see you there.

Election Day 2016 Reminders
The general election will be held at the Wentworth Elementary School from 8 am to 7 pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
Please note that you can register to vote on Election Day. Please be sure to have a valid ID and proof of residency.
The Select Board will hold a brief business meeting at the general election location at 6 pm. This is to sign payroll and vendor checks. There will not be any priviledge of the floor.

Found Parakeet
Animal control picked up a parakeet on Friday, July 15, in the road near Route 25 and Beech Hill Road.
The bird is young and its wings are clipped.

Transfer Station Stickers Required July 1
Beginning July 1st, the town is requiring all those using the transfer station to have a transfer station sticker. The stickers can be obtained from the attendant, by providing proof of residency. (Wentworth vehicle registration, utility bill, mail addressed to your address etc.)
Note that the stickers can no longer be obtained from the Town Clerk.

Recycling Update
Although the town is no longer accepting any materials for the Zero Sort program, we will continue to accept aluminum cans and bottles with deposit markings on them. All other items that were previously accepted as part of the Zero Sort program will be disposed of in our trash compactor.
This decision does not affect other recyclable materials like scrap metal, light bulbs, used motor oil, etc.

Work on the Common
The NH DOT will be starting drainage work on the week of April 11 on Wentworth Village Road between Rt 25 and the closed bridge. There may be minor delays but should be no disruption in service of post office and library.
Week of April 11 the cement cauldrons will be delivered.
Week of April 18 excavation begins. "The village road will drain in two directions. The east side of the village will drain to the new abutments with new manholes by Pages and Corbett's, and the west side will drain to Route 25 will new manholes at the library, the intersection of village and Bridge Street (the old name for the road in front of the library; and a new
one by the Post Office" (Davis).
In June: The paving project begins and the old manholes will be free filled with cement and paved over.

This is currently a 5 hour a week position during training. This position, for the right candidate, will develop into a full time Administrative Assistant position of 40 hours per week.

Beech Hill Reconstruction Project
The Town will begin the reconstruction project of Beech Hill. It is anticipated that tree/brush roadside trimming will begin July 16-17 from the upper portion of Beech Hill to the Warren town line. The road will be closed to traffic during day hours of approximately 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The subcontractor, D.A. White, is scheduled to begin work on the project beginning July 21 through July 31. The road will be closed for daytime travel during this period as well.

Upcoming Town Village Common Bridge Meetings
Sunday, December 7, 2014
The Village Bridge Steering Committee will hold a meeting on Sunday, December 7th at 11:30 am at the Old Town Hall.
The Committee intends to solicit polls of opinion from the members. The intent of the meeting will be to discuss the emails and notices received from the NHDOT regarding the bridge and the upcoming meeting which has been scheduled by NHDOT.

The NHDOT has scheduled to meet with the Select Board and any other interested parties on Wednesday, December 10th, at 7 pm at the Old Town Hall.
The DOT plans to explain the need for the project (public safety concerns), the status of efforts to date, and the anticipated schedule for a project.

Effective May 13, 2014, residents may not pick through, sort, or remove any items from the following areas:
- Metal collection container
- C & D container
- Electronics, tire disposal area
The only area residents may sort through and remove items is the swap table.
In addition, the Transfer Station attendant is the only one who shall operate the trash compactor.

Thank you!
The Select Board has reopened Hamilton Field. A big Thank You to our Road Agent of the Wentworth Highway Department, the Wentworth School ball team coach, team members, parents of team members, Duane Brown and all those who volunteered to clean up from Hurricane Irene to make it happen! Play Ball!
Riverside Park remains gated off until the cleanup process is completed. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Select Board’s office. We hope to have this cleaned up and ready for use as soon as possible.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has scheduled another National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day which will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity for those who missed the previous events, or who have subsequently accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications.

Order sheets are now available at the Town Offices to order compost bins, rain barrels, kitchen scrap pails or compost turner’s at a reduced cost through Northeast Resource Recovery Association (NRRA). Order sheets will also be available at the Town Meeting next week. The ordered items will be available for pick up at the Transfer Station on April 21 & 22 from 9 am – 3 pm.

Upcoming Select Board Meetings
Tuesday, March 13, due to Town Meeting Day there will be not be a Select Board meeting. The regularly scheduled Select Board meeting will resume on Tuesday, March 20.
Tuesday, March 27, Bernie Waugh, from the law firm of Gardner, Fulton and Waugh will be presenting his annual Municipal Law Update, which includes major statue and case law changes for the year 2011 that have impact on us;
all are welcome to attend.

Budget Workshops/Hearing
Starting on January 17th, the Select Board will continue to have Budget Workshops each Tuesday from 5 to 6 pm prior to the regularly scheduled Select Board Meetings, until all department budgets are completed. The Select Board Budget Hearing is scheduled for February 14, 2012, at 7:00 pm, which will be a part of the regularly scheduled Select Board Meeting.

Cross Country Appraisal Group has completed the scheduled meetings with property owners. If you did not receive a notice and would like to discuss your new assessed property values, please contact the Select Board Office at 603-764-9955 or Cross Country directly at 603-415-0130.
Property cards may be obtained by contacting the Select Board Office.
Also, abatement requests must be submitted to the office no later than March 1, 2012.

(2) There will be a brief Select Board meeting at 6:00 pm January 10th to sign payroll and vouchers only. The regular Select Board meeting will resume January 17th.

Select Board Office Notice
Select Board will hold a Non-public Meeting on December 24, 2011 at 7 am. Per RSA 91-A:3, II(a) – Dismissal, promotion or compensation of any public employees or the disciplining of such employee, or the investigation of any charges against him, unless the employee affected (1) has a right to a meeting and (2) requests that the meeting be open, in which case the request shall be granted.

Nov. 8 Select Board meeting
The November 8th meeting will begin at 5:30 pm rather than 6:00 pm. There will be a non-public meeting beginning at 5:30 pm, per RSA 91-A:3, II(a) – Dismissal, promotion or compensation of any public employees….., followed by a secondary non-public meeting at 6:00 pm per RSA 91-A:3, II(e) – Discussion of pending or threatened (in writing) litigation against the Town or Town Officials, Board Members or employees.
The regular public portion of the Select Board meeting will follow.
